So much talk of ghosts
when we moved into this house,
this time-creased mansion
filled with other people’s memories.
Ghosts in its veins and arteries,
plug sockets and light switches.
Every flickering bulb a vengeful spirit,
every thud in the night a trapped soul.
Now, only one room is haunted.
Picture hooks on the wall miss frames,
hangers in the wardrobe long for clothes.
