ALAN

WARD

WRITER

Welcome

My writing has been shortlisted in the Oxford Brookes International Poetry Competition, long-listed in the National Poetry Competition, commended in the Yeovil Literary Prize and recognised by several other small prizes.

I've published poems, articles and short stories in print and online in various publications, including: Fire, Magma, Popshot, Poetry News, Poetry International Web, South Bank Poetry, UntoldLondon.org.uk, Writing Magazine and Writers' Forum.

I've previously created poems for a commission for the London Canal Museum (see my separate Ice Poetry blog), been writer in residence at Hastings Library and between January and March 2019 I was writer in residence at Gillingham Library in Dorset.

In October 2017 I left a full-time job to focus on writing. Before that, writing took a backseat to marketing jobs in the arts and education sectors. You can see my LinkedIn profile for more information about my marketing career.

This website charts my experiences as a writer. I hope you like it. Read my blog to find out more.
